The 'KR' in 'GT500KR' stands for 'King of the Road', a name introduced in 1968 to set apart the Shelby Mustangs of that year. Rightfully so! These Mustangs were powered by 7.0-liter (428 cubic inch) Cobra Jet V8 putting out nearly 400 gross horsepower, truly living up to their name as kings of the road. Only 518 convertible GT500KRs were produced for the 1968 model year, making them not only fast and luxurious, but also pretty rare.
